The Intermediate DHV 1 paraglider would be your first buy, very
stable and forgiving. The latest generation DHV 1 glider has outstanding
performance, is fun to fly and capable of good cross-country flights.
The Sports glider is for the more experienced Pilot with many
hours in different conditions and on different sites.
If this glider becomes unstable, it may do so faster, so the Pilot reaction need to be
faster. Normally DHV 1-2

Guide to buying a glider.
Check the all up take off weight of the glider. That's every thing including glider,
harness, helmet, bag, first aid kit, etc and yourself. Better to be towards the top
rather than the bottom or two thirds up the weight range.
Most well known gliders come with a warranty and are made of top quality
materials. Read reviews, talk to you instructor and other pilots about glider performance. |

HARNESSES |
It's as important to
choose the right harness as glider. Most come with back protection, carabiners,
speed bar attachment, reserve container, pockets, and adjustment. Sizes depend on
manufacture, S-M-L-XL.
Guide
to buying a harness. Size is important, trying out a
harness in summer, in shorts and T shirt, this is England. You will probably have flying
suit and jumpers on when flying. We can't stress the importance of a good back protector.
Plenty of adjustment, even in your early days you could be air-borne for an hour or
two but only if you are comfortable, a good lumber support is vital. For the reserve
container position talk to your instructor and other pilots.
Check the quality between different makes. |

HELMETS
|
Helmets
should be light, strong and certified to EN966. Make sure it fits well and will
not slide of your head. Open or full face, is a matter of choice. Black can be hot in the
summer. |

RESERVES
|
The Reserve is your last chance when all else fails, designed to be
simple to operate and fast opening, as most deployments are at low level. Repacked
and checked once a year, has a life span of 10 years. Again make sure you purchase
the correct size and check the certification - DHV - Afnor or CEN as recommended by the
